Guest MATT Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I have been thinking about cruise control for a while, and I have decided that I would have it fitted, depending on the price. So I phone the fraud dealer, and he said they can not be fitted, because they can't get it to work correctly, and that it is a big job. You can only have it as an option when order new - he said He suggested i look in the yellow pages for a specialist. Is he telling me a load of bull, or should i give another fraud dealer a call? Thoughts and views much appreciated Matt  Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Matt, dead easy to fit it to yours... I did mine as soon as I got it... If you do a search, there is quite a long thread on it.. Basically, you need a stalk, the loom (modified to lengthen it) and access to a dealer diagnostic, or VAG-COM to turn it on... Mike Quote
Guest MATT Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 access to a dealer diagnostic, or VAG-COM to turn it on... cheers GSMGuy, the only problem is, i dont have VAG-COM <_< http://www.disa.com.au/Pictures/baby%20crying%20cartoon.gif matt Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 The problem is that Ford dealers do not have full access to all the features in VAG-com, which is probably why they told you that they cannot activate the cruise control, even if you buy and fit the new stalk etc. However, I think that you have found by now that it can be done ! Good luck. Quote

I'm sure either myself (if you are close) or another member with VAG-COM would be pleased to help you once you've fitted all the bits... Mike Quote
faded-fish Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Is it as easy to fit cruise control to a 1995 Galaxy 2.0 GLX  My guess is no! :D Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Is it as easy to fit cruise control to a 1995 Galaxy 2.0 GLX  My guess is no! :D Straight answer NO, you would need the vacuum pump, hoses, servo, control stalk, pedal switches both electrical and vacuum and possibly the loom to go with it all if it's not already fitted? you would be better of going for an aftermarket kit! I cant see the facination for it? I've had it and didnt find much use for it or really any need for it! Quote

Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 try here or ask at your local ICE shop or auto electricians Quote
Dally Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Thanks VR6 - some useful info and the price seems reasonable. Quote
Guest MATT Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 ive been thinking, if i fitted the control stalk, it would then only want switching on by the VAG.COM - right? my question is, if the car had cruise control, before, is there anyway, by fault (eg, changing a battery), that the 'computer' would switch off the feature, and would need switching on by VAG.COM? matt. Masked Marauder Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 No, the setting is in flash ROM so will stay set. I had read elsewhere that all that was required on a TDi was the switch, and that sometimes the cruise is enabled anyway on the ecu. Quote
joczeze Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Dear All I had contact Ford, here in Portugal, and they say that it is technically impossible to put Cruise control in their car. It is only possible to do it in origin. Thay also say it is expensive. I have a Galaxy 1.9 98, 110TDI, and has far I know and learn here it is possible and not much complicated. Please send me some links or information about this in Galaxy. Thanks Quote
